I just finished writing a post on prayer and guess what? I lost it. I am not a tech person and have no clue what I’m doing so starting over.
Do you ever wonder how to pray? I certainly have. I’ve had people tell me that I don’t need to pray for myself, that I should only pray for other people. If I don’t take care of me, how am I suppose to help others? Isn’t that kind of like on an airplane? You put the oxygen mask on yourself before putting it on the other person? If you don’t make it, they certainly won’t, right? I’ve been told that I need to get on my knees to pray while others say that I can pray while walking. Don’t get me wrong though, I do get on my knees in my favorite place. I personally have some of my best prayers while I’m driving. Yes, driving. I imagine that my sweet Jesus is sitting next to me and I ask Him if He’s got His seat belt on. I know!!! That’s kinda weird, but hey, I’m pretending that He’s right there – human like me! Can you imagine! When I ask Him that, I pretend that He’s asking me if I have mine on. Not just my car seat belt but my spiritual seat belt. That kind of gives me a little stab in the heart. While we’re driving, I talk to Him as though He is just a normal person. Wasn’t He a normal person once? He did walk on this earth. The Son of God living among us.
Today, I was at the Center where I volunteer for Women’s Ministry. “We’ve Been Where You Are” is our motto. And believe me, I’ve pretty much been there, foster homes, sexual abuse, rape, death of a child and brother from a car accident, death of a husband…so I’d say I’ve been there. I thank my God for letting me surrender to Him when I was 50. Better late than never, right? Or is that right? What if I had died in that car accident, or on the operating table during brain surgery or during quadruple bypass surgery? Couldn’t that have been to late?
Let me get back on track here… Our groups are starting next week and as I was praying for each woman by name, my heart felt so heavy that I was sobbing. I prayed specific things for each woman. I don’t know what she needs, what she is searching for but I prayed for it, whether it was the right thing or not because I know that my God knows the need.
I remember my pastor asking “Do you really believe that God is a life changing God?”
Yes, I do believe that He is and nothing is going to change that.
